Sims 4 fairies with magical cast features are finally here. Today’s surprise Sims 4 base game update has introduced only small bug fixes on the surface. However, this patch is laying the groundwork for something much bigger coming soon. The Sims team has confirmed that this minor patch supports the upcoming “Nature’s Calling” event which begins June 24. Along with it, a short teaser trailer has dropped that fully confirms what many fans have been waiting for: the arrival of fairies in The Sims 4.

Though the update itself didn’t deliver major gameplay changes, it’s a crucial piece ahead of the upcoming enchanted by nature expansion pack. The teaser trailer, just 40 seconds long, showed off an incredible new direction for Sims supernatural content.

Sims 4 fairies with magical cast features bring fresh magical energy

In the trailer, we get our first look at fairies in Create-a-Sim. There are clear visual cues showing these new occult Sims feeding off emotion rather than food. As shown with “Mother Nature” performing a magical spin, emotional energy literally radiates from fairies in the form of floating smiley faces. According to the trailer’s official blog, fairies do not use hunger as a need, instead they consume others’ emotions.

That design decision alone brings a new depth to how these Sims might interact with others and build relationships. The customization options look impressively deep too. Players will be able to customize both fairy and human forms, select wings (with various shapes and colors), choose skin tones and eye colors, and even add horns, tattoos, and new ear shapes.

There’s also the exciting addition of a size toggle. Fairies can shrink down to tiny, zipping sprites which adds even more flair to their animations. One scene showed a fairy making a plant bloom with a magical gesture, hinting that spellcasting or nature interaction will be a core mechanic for this occult type.

New Sims 4 traits support magical lifestyles

The teaser also revealed three brand-new traits coming to the game: Mystical, Plant Lover, and Disruptive. Mystical Sims appear to be in tune with spiritual or magical energy. Plant Lover is pretty self-explanatory, though some players question why this isn’t just a likes/dislikes toggle. Disruptive Sims appear chaotic or mischievous, with visual symbols that may suggest troublemaking or psychedelic traits.

These traits could make regular Sims more interesting too, especially if they add conflict or unique emotional reactions with fairies. Customization appears to extend heavily into cast features as well, with a variety of wing styles, body markings, tattoos, and mystical attire leaning into a full fantasy aesthetic.

Nature’s Calling event delivers themed freebies

Set to begin June 24, the Nature’s Calling event ties into the enchanted theme of the upcoming expansion. Items include a woodworking bench, floral wall swatches, unique chairs and tables, novelty tattoos (like a tree stump), the swamp-style toilet with woohoo functionality, and even mushroom plates. While most items appear decorative, the toilet’s added gameplay feature has players talking.

Weekly unlocks will stretch across several weeks, keeping players engaged right before the expansion drops. EA has made this kind of tie-in event a standard before major pack launches and this time is no different.

Enchanted by Nature pack brings magic, luck, and more

Launching July 10, the Enchanted by Nature expansion lets Sims live off the land and embrace natural magic. Alongside fairies, the pack introduces apothecary crafting, new plants, and gameplay features like dynamic luck, harmony, and imbalance. Fairies can follow paths of balance or chaos, and even offer fairy dust to regular Sims.

This expansion could mark a major shift in how occult Sims interact with the game world, especially with emotional needs and mystical traits shaping everyday gameplay. Players are already speculating on fairy gameplay involving plant growth, special relationships, and magical world events.
